I had dinner with Beth from CWM at House of Tibet Kitchen. She ordered #13, which was dumplings, and I ordered #36 which was tofu and vegetables. We shared, and they were both tasty. I ordered butter tea, which turned out to be a mistake as they brought us free soup before the entrees so I was all set in the filling warm liquid department.
Advent meditation: Psalm 121 (Authorised King James Version)
Gusti did the meditation. She talked about working in the mountains of eastern Kentucky and West Virginia and falling in love with the mountains and with the people, and then returning and finding the mountains are being destroyed. She then wrote:
Advent is a season of active waiting for all of us, powerless and powerful alike. In the midst of war and poverty, we who follow Christ prepare the world for a different outcome than the one that seems inevitable. We don't know how to fix it on our own, but Christ is coming! God is our hope and our help. We choose to trust in God's providence, even when all evidence points to the contrary. We choose to pray psalm 121 as a petition, even while we read it as a promise. God will not let our foot be moved. God who keeps us will not slumber. Please, God, may it be so.+
Advent is also our season of discernment. How is God calling us to respond to the cries of the world? Where is God asking us to give birth to Christ?

Five good things about today:
1. At the library today, I chatted with Michele whom I almost never see since she rarely works Saturdays.
2. a certain voicemail message
3. One of my roommates bought toilet paper. (I feel like I'm almost always the one who does that.)
4. I was reminded that writing it all out really does help relieve my angst.
5. I had time to finish writing it all out before I went out to dinner.
Three things I did well today:
1. I finished reading Love in the Time of Cholera.
2. I bought groceries.
3. I gave money to the MFA. Yes it's mostly that I have difficulty turning people down, but we're gonna frame this as charitable giving.
Two things I am looking forward to (doing [better]) tomorrow:
1. going to church
2. doing laundry
