Dear Elizabeth,

I know you are worried about the papers and essay exam you feel totally incapable of doing, but you have made it this far and you will make it through.

You will skim the research material you so conscientiously got out from the library weeks ago. You will take notes and expand upon the notes and you will have a paper. You are a thoughtful and intelligent person. You can do this.

You will discuss all of the floral imagery in Book IX of Paradise Lost. You will make sure you answered all the questions in the assignment description. You will also look at the floral imagery in Book IV and tie it in. You will write a coherent introductory paragraph after you have written the paper.

Your papers will be as long as they need to be. Quality, not quantity, is what is important. Remember, you can be the things Strunk & White are made of.

You will look over the Milton practice exam. You will skim over Lycidas, Comus, Areopagitica. You will look over your notes and the study questions. You will be adequately prepared. You have survived a semester of Milton. The grade you get in the course is really not that important.

In less than 96 hours you will be home. I know this sounds like an intimidatingly short period of time in which to get all this work done, but you can do it. You are embraced and supported by the love of innumerable people. You are a child of God, a well-loved child of God. You can do it, and you will do it.
