Don’t get the idea that a saint is a saint at every moment. But there is always my grace.
Is it because I am God that you believe I have no need of tenderness? Do you think I remain silent with those who want to talk with me? Talk with me....
This year you will love me in my people. Do for them what you would do for me. If I give you favors of tenderness, it is to encourage you to make sacrifices for your sisters and brothers. Give as you have received. I want to go down to the very heart of your heart and make my home there. It will be simple and habitual.
When you say, “Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us” with love, I grant you more grace than for a long-drawn-out prayer that you repeat mechanically.
Remember that the crucifixion is the prelude to the resurrection, that is, to all joys!
Be just as gracious toward the little ones as toward the great ones. Make an effort particularly when you are with people who seem vulgar to you. Go to everyone with the same gentleness. You are all sisters and brothers in me. Wasn’t I everyone’s brother? Don’t take your eyes off the model!
