i do it for the joy it brings

And have i mentioned the wonderful weather we've been having?

Mr. Carver was my AP Calc teacher and is an all-around great guy. He and his wife were in the area today, so he called me to ask if i wanted to meet up and get a bite to eat. We met outside Starbucks and went to the Fresh Pasta Bistro, and we ended up having a real meal, his treat. Yayness. I got garlic parsley fettuccini with olive and herb sauce, Mediterranean bread (garlic bread with melted mozzarella and chopped tomatoes and onions), and hot tea. I haven’t been yummy full of good food in ages. And i even got to bring leftovers home. We chatted for over an hour, which was really nice, and then they had to head home but he said he/they would love to come again and get to see the campus and stuff sometime. I’m very happy.

I’m trying to work on my Soc paper as well as my nano. I hate that feeling of wanting to do my absolute best for someone. I mean, the motivation is good of course, but the whole guilty feeling is hardly one of my favorite things.

Autumn Serenade = NHS Pops

Sitting in the audience waiting for the concert to start (And lo, it started on time!) i kept thinking i saw people from home, which i haven’t done in ages.

Some of the songs were so Mrs. Moen (“Jabula Jesu,” “Wade in the Watah,” “Elijah Rock”).

Groove did “Give Me One Reason” (Tracy Chapman) and “Where Did Our Love Go/Crazy” (Diana Ross/Britney Spears). When they did the Britney Spears bit they even did the whole dance routine. Very fun.

Lots of songs in foreign languages, and they had text and translation at the back of the program.

And the last two songs were “The Women of Smith” and “In Praise of Smith College.” It’d be way fun to have the actual words to those because i definitely couldn’t hear all of them.

All in all a nice way to spend two hours.

And now back to the Soc paper. I’m halfway done with the first half of it. Not bad considering it isn’t due until Tuesday.

Annie is so sweet.

Her family came today and moved her into her new room and they also brought her some food. So tonight i got to see her new room (which feels so much homier than her previous, temporary, room) and i also got homemade pumpkin pie and a couple chocolate piroulines. Sometimes life is just good.
