Time Event
1:45a
My daddy’s officially an NHS Physics teacher next year!
He got to go to the Science Department party today and everything.

I think my interview went well. (I would post a longer story, but i’m tired.) The job seems a lot like what i did at SCMA -- which is what i was looking for -- and a huge bonus is that it ends at 4:30 each day and is supposedly only about a 10-minute walk from North Station, so i can take my massage classes and not have to worry about leaving work early. It sounded like the guy hoped i could start training shortly after i get back from vacation, but he hasn’t talked to the staffing firm people yet, so i don’t have anything definite.

As my mom said a while back, “wouldn't it be awesome if you and Daddy both had jobs by the time we leave for Maryland?” And my brother potentially has a (second) summer job as well.

After my interview, i went to my mom’s office where i hung out before heading out to massage class. I caught up on e-mails i’d been meaning to write, finally got around to reading entrenous88’s post about crossover fic, and had interesting discussion with wisdomeagle.

Massage class was good. My table still hasn’t arrived. (Neither have our cell phones or other items my brother ordered more recently.) Of course, i’m gonna be in Maryland for almost the entire duration between classes, so it’s not like i can use it this week anyway.

When my dad left to come get me, my brother was watching AFI's 100 YEARS...100 MOVIE QUOTES: America's Greatest Quips, Comebacks and Catchphrases. On the drive back, my dad and i tried to come up with which ones should be there (and i mentioned 2 from The Princess Bride which i suspected wouldn’t make it) and we came up with less than 50 -- though in websurfing since i saw lines i’d forgotten about (and plenty that mean nothing or little to me). The official site mentions "Houston, we have a problem" from Apollo 13, which i find problematic. I had conceded book adaptations, but surely "Houston, we have a problem" was famous before the movie.

Edited to add links from my dad: Ann Althouse on the 400 nominees and the broadcast and the 100 winners (i was hoping to hear how the AFI dealt with "Play it [again], Sam") amd the full 100 winners list from Yahoo. /edit

I am leaving by noon on Wednesday, June 22 (today) and will be returning late Monday, June 27. I’ll be in Maryland for a big family reunion and don’t know what my Internet access will be like. I’ll catch up on everything Internet-y when i return, but i make no promises about responding to anything while i’m away.

(Maybe by the time i get back, the world will have stopped talking about Tom Cruise. A girl can dream.)
