andro

Aww, the boy is sweet.

Mary Alice was having lunch with other people today, and when Eric came up with his lunch I said, "Do you have the DVDs?"
Eric: "I didn't bring them."
me: "Why?"
Eric: "I honestly thought you didn't enjoy it enough to want to watch any more of it."
me: "Okay, that's not entirely inaccurate..."
Eric: "See!"
me: "But when has that ever mattered?"

"Been down, isn't it a pity / Doesn't seem to be a shadow in the city"

"Hot town, summer in the city" was a Metro headline this morning, so the song's been stuck in my head intermittently all day.

Writing the Subject line of my last post I was struck by how reminiscent it is of all the guys I've crushed on.  Not sure how I feel about this.  (Part of my reaction is a simple, "Brain -- or whatever's responsible for this -- do you never learn?"  Like, could I find somebody who's sweet and with whom a relationship would actually be a good idea?)

Eric and I were playing 6 Degrees again and I got Jude Law in 2 via Sky Captain.
Eric: "I was look at older movies.  Ones that tended to suck less."
me: "Hey, Sky Captain was fun."
Eric: "If by fun you mean two hours of torture worse then ripping off your own toenails, then yes, it was fun.  It was a blast."
me: "Whoa now.  It wasn’t a good movie, but it wasn’t that bad."
Eric: "I’d rather have a colonoscopy."

"Always look on the bright side of life.  Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition."

I stayed just a wee bit late wrapping up scheduling stuff (big relief) and changed my voicemail message and set up an e-mail auto-response.

Waling to the Square I bumped into Michelle (heading to the Science Center for her night class).  Elk head story = awesome.  I do miss working in that unit.

Did I mention the gorgeous weather?  This morning it was still a bit overwarm for my taste (though I was v. grateful for the significant temperature decrease since the previous day) but after work it was just gorgeous.  The apartment could still use some cooling off, but it's fine.

Accomplished:
+ dinner
+ laundry
+ dishes

Still to do:
+ selecting clothes
+ packing
+ making sure I have all the papers I need (flight info, hotel phone #, etc.)

All I need is four days worth of clothes and of course I'm thrown back into "I don't like any of my clothes."  (Okay, that's not entirely true.  I have one shirt I know I'm bringing.  One down, three+ to go.)

update

I don't think I ever officially notified LJ that we have a third housemate for the new lease. Michelle, henceforth to be known as NewRoomie (both because I already know a Michelle and a Michele and for the internal naming continuity). From her e-mail: "i work at a nonprofit in harlem organizing latino immigrants around economic justice and work access. i'm going to be attending the fletcher school at tufts in the fall to study international development and gender policy." Apparently she won't be moving in until August 16 (a Wednesday) though she's paying for all of August.

I think I may have 4 shirts I wanna wear at WriterCon.

Banilla yogurt is way better than packing, though.

I'm really enjoying some of the music I've acquired from musesfool/frankenmix.

hey man
evening on the ground
and there is no one else around
so you will
blame me

blame me for the rocks and baby bones
and broken lock on our
garden

garden wall of eden
full of spiderbites and all your lovers
we were

we were born to fuck each other
one way or another
