busy weekend

O little town of Bethlehem, how still we see thee lie!
Above thy deep and dreamless sleep the silent stars go by.
Yet in thy dark streets shineth the everlasting Light;
The hopes and fears of all the years are met in thee tonight.
-"O Little Town of Bethlehem" (Phillips Brooks)

Earlier this weekend I was feeling grinchy for not having participated in most anyone's holiday card polls and lo, I picked up my mail when I got home and it included one from pandorasboxes which filled me with ♥.

I'm feeling somewhat overwhelmed/inadequate. The idea of writing this Joyce paper, of writing an exam, when I have no thoughts; plus the cleaning I should do before I have visitors this holiday, plus etc.

I woke up at like 5:45 or something -- or dreamed I did -- but went back to sleep and didn't end up getting up until about 9 (which means ~9hrs of sleep/night two nights in a row).

I also had weird dreams.  Collapse )

The Second Sunday of Advent

Today I went to service at St. James Episcopal.  I purposely included some Episcopal churches in my church-hopping during the Advent season because I actually enjoy high church stuff during Advent.  This morning, though, I found myself trying to recall what I had meant by that because I am so not Episcopalian. I went to a 1:30pm performance of the Urban NutcrackerCollapse )

P.S. Mom, one of the ads in the program was for Alvin Ailey at the Wang Center: April 26-29.

per my mother's request:
Can you post again for candidates to give a writing workshop on January 15th, Monday holiday, at JBCC?

Middle school girls, workshop is 1.5 hours, paying $75.00 per workshop. Could do the same workshop twice. Welcome to attend award luncheon following the conference.

We working on the documents – description etc.

In other news, according to LJ, the peoples I was thinking of purchasing paid LJ for for xmas: "These friends have paid accounts that aren't due to expire for a while."  Anyone know what LJ's definition of "a while" is?  I'll probably just make the purchases anyway, of course.

No new episodes of Heroes until Jan. 22, but all 11 episodes are available on the website.
