Thank you, and good night.

After we got home from the funeral my mom made some lunch and complained that there was no chocolate. (She had been hinting/suggesting earlier in the week that people could make baked goods involving chocolate.) She took some truffles out of the freezer to thaw and ate a handful of M&Ms.

So after she left to go to work, what did i do? Whipped up a batch of chocolate chip cookies, of course.

I had forgotten what homemade chocolate chip cookies taste like it's been so long since i've had them. The batter, in various stages. The big raw gooey cookies. The small thoroughly baked cookies. Cookies fresh out of the oven, still warm and threatening to fall apart. Cookies that are room temperature and solid, chewy and ready to be put away.

She saw them when she got home and was pleased. Later she said something like that it was the nicest thing anyone had done for her in ages.
