Okay, so i have enough parallels/contrasts to other works to probably write a 10 page paper, but it's 750 words and "A student might consider any or all of the metaphors, tensions, symbols, and other aesthetic principles that we have used in class discussions, but the intent is for her/him to have something original and insightful and specific to say about the text at hand." Can i talk about the sexual tension? I really feel much more comfortable doing literary analysis like that, given that it's a work of fiction but i'm supposed to "make an original and insightful argument about a text, about how it evokes a relationship to the Harlem Renaissance, as we have been studying it," which brings me back to where this post started. *sighs*
