“Pleased as man with men to dwell...”

I ended up at the staff Christmas party at the library. Yay free food. I left after about 45 minutes, in part because the conversations kept turning into gripefests. I was thinking that i have a low tolerance for bitching, but i’ve been pissy about stuff all week (though i’ve refrained from LJing about it) and i’ve definitely joined in commiserating bitchfests. So it’s possible that it’s just the season. Sometime after Christmas i’ll do up a long post, including the lovely Nativity Pageant at First Churches (with the exception of the attention whore little boy diva whom i wanted to smother with a pillow ).

Mr. Peterson’s reaction to the news that i was pursuing grad school: “Are you going to be like Hamlet -- still in school when you’re 30?”
Though according to him, Back In The Day a master’s degree took 1 year and a Ph.D. two additional years.

Everyone’s so confident that i’ll get in. (Though blessedly, he didn’t say that.) My brother and i are planning on celebrating when we both get rejected from our top choice schools, ‘cause we’re good like that.

I’m starting to wish i were a black sheep because then everyone wouldn’t have all these great and high expectations of me and i wouldn’t have to feel bad about not living up to them.

“Behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the City of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.“
Many thanks to the grace-filled-one for the card.

P.S. Don't drink the water.

The “Boil Water Order” in effect since Monday evening is hereby rescinded, effective immediately. The test results show there has been no contamination of our drinking water. If you are experiencing discoloration and rust, please run your water until it is clear. It does not affect the drinking water quality.

The tap water is safe to drink.

Happy Holidays!
This makes me feel better about the fact that i hadn't been particularly attentive to boiling my water.

Also: this is interesting.
